Formed at The Juilliard School in September 2016, the Ansonia Quartet was awarded a Gluck Community Service Fellowship and a position in the Honors Chamber Music Program at Juilliard for the 2017/18 academic year. The Ansonia launched a successful crowdfunding campaign over the summer of 2017 to finance a Japan Tour where the quartet held workshops for Japanese students and two concerts.
Since then, the quartet has been performing internationally; they have held a residency at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance working closely with the Dover Quartet, had a one-week Toronto Tour giving community engagement performances and coaching a youth orchestra, attended Summer in JAPAN Festival. 2018/19 Season highlights include: appearances at the Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center for masterclass with Ani Kavafian, at the New York Choreographic Institute, a world premiere performance of Jia Daqun’s Second String Quartet at Juilliard’s 2018 Focus! Festival, a recital at Harvard Club of New York, and a performance of world premieres at MoMA’s Summergarden series.
At Juilliard, the quartet worked primarily with Ronald Copes and Roger Tapping of the Juilliard String Quartet.
