あついですね！月曜ですね！汗をふいて深呼吸して、今週もがんばりましょう！
今日は新プロジェクトローンチのご報告と、ご支援のお願いです。
昨年９月に、入学したてのジュリアード音楽院の同級生４人（Byungchan Lee (カナダ), Meagan Turner (カナダ), Isabel Kwon (アメリカ), 廣津留すみれ (日本)）で弦楽四重奏団アンソニア・カルテットを結成しました。アメリカ・カナダ・日本からこの学校で集まった私たちは本当にチームワークが抜群で、結成からわずか１年で、オーディションにより来年度の学校でのHonors Chamber Music Programに選ばれました。これは学内の優秀な室内楽団のみが選ばれる選抜グループで、来年１年間ニューヨークのリンカーンセンターなど各地での演奏やマスタークラスの参加が決定しています。
そのキックオフとして、８月に日本ツアーを計画しています！
主な目的は、音楽に触れることの少ない日本の子供たちに本物の音楽に触れてもらい、広い視野を培ってもらうこと。アメリカでは中学校や高校のオーケストラで弦楽器をトライすることも普通ですが、日本にはブラスバンドや合唱の他には、楽器にふれる機会がありません。
そこで、大分市に設立した２週間のサマープログラムSummer in JAPAN (SIJ)に参加する全国・世界各地からの６０名ほどの小中高生、そしてコンサートに来られる大分の地元の皆さんのため、私たちカルテットがクラシックコンサートとワークショップをプロデュースし、勉強だけでなく課外活動の大切さを訴えたい、というのが今回の目標です。

・８月７日のiichiko音の泉ホール（大分市）でのSIJコンサート
・期間中のSummer in JAPAN参加者への音楽ワークショップ
・８月１０日の東京でのコンサート
・東京での室内楽・個人レッスン（希望者のみ）
を開催すべく、メンバーの交通費・宿泊費$10,000を目標として現在資金集めをしています。

I have launched a new project with my quartet members! And we need your support.
Juilliard musicians Byungchan Lee (Canada), Meagan Turner (Canada), Isabel Kwon (U.S.A.), and Sumire Hirotsuru (Japan) bonded during the orientation week at Juilliard, and we formed a new string quartet, The Ansonia Quartet. Though a new quartet, we have been selected to be a part of Honors Chamber Music Program for 2017/18 academic year at Juilliard, which offers many opportunities including participation in masterclasses by leading musicians and performances at Lincoln Center. As a kickoff, we are planning a week-long Japan Tour in the beginning of August.
Our primary purpose of this Japan Tour is to give opportunities for Japanese schoolchildren to get exposed to music more – unlike American schools, most of Japanese schools don’t have school/youth orchestra or ensembles and they don’t have chance to see any performances.
Summer in JAPAN, a non-profit organization that I co-founded in 2012, hosts an annual summer education program for Japanese schoolchildren aged 6-18 in my hometown, Oita. We are planning to perform in the Summer in JAPAN annual classical concert, hold workshops for children, and hold another concert in Tokyo to perform for wider Japanese audience.
We believe that the Ansonia will help opening up perspectives of Japanese children by providing the top-level music performance and workshops, and that this opportunity will also teach our quartet about community engagement, which we as a quartet is aiming to do more in the coming year as a Gluck Community Service Fellow at Juilliard.
We are trying to fundraise $10,000 to cover our international and domestic flights, accommodation, and rehearsal room costs.
