蒸し暑い毎日、みなさんいかがお過ごしでしょうか。ニューヨークから廣津留です。
そろそろブログ更新しなさいとの声をいただいたので、紅茶片手に夜中につらつらと書いております。
今日は朝からジュリアードの仲間と３人でハーレムの素敵なコーヒーやさんでスコーンを食べながら近況と夢について語り（ちなみに２人は９月からそれぞれマイアミとインディアナで自分の道を進むそう）、そのあとカルテット仲間のイザベルとミュージカルKinky Boots を鑑賞し（めっちゃアメリカン・ドリームの塊のようなド派手なショーでした）、ハッピーアワーで$1の生牡蠣を食べ（カバー写真参照）、別のチェロ友達（９月からジュリアード最終学年に進むけどなぜか楽しみじゃないらしい）と夕飯を食べるという社交的な１日でした。
さて毎日が飛ぶようにすぎていく夏、なぜか時系列を遡りながら、いくつか７月の近況を。
・７月２６日（木）本日、日経カレッジカフェ連載の新しい記事が掲載されました。今回はカーネギーホールでの演奏と、ジュリアードの新しい常任指揮者インタビューです！指揮者の役割をビジネスに例えてみました。

～指揮者の仕事はプロジェクトマネージャー？
・７月２２日（日）MoMA・ニューヨーク近代美術館で私のグループ、アンソニア・カルテットが世界初演など４曲を演奏しました。その批評記事が、National Sawdust Logに掲載されました。こうしてレビューを書いていただくというのは音楽家にとって結構大きいことなのですが、今回私にとって初めてなので、嬉しいです！しかも良いレビューでした。
In Review: Ansonia Quartet （英語）
・７月１３日（金）＆１４日（土）ボストンにてレコーディングに参加しました。新しいアニメとゲームのサウンドトラックで、今回はソロもあったので、出来上がりが楽しみ！
眠くなってきたので、この辺で！今週末はコネチカットのフェスティバルでバッハの無伴奏を弾いてきます！ではまた。
It’s so humid in NYC.
Someone told me to update a blog so I am writing at 3am now – I don’t know why, I just get much more productive at night when my friends are asleep (except for my business partners in Japan where it’s around 4pm now).
I watched Kinky Boots today on Broadway, which was a full of American dream and flashy lights and costumes. Overall, I liked how uplifting the story and the music was, and was convinced why they have been running the show for 5 years now. It was interesting – it was definitely THE Broadway style that majority of people would love, but I was thinking on the way back about the common question for artists: would I like it when the mass like my made-to-be-catchy work, or would I prefer if a small number of people understand my nerdy-but-true-me work?
Anyways, this summer has been crazy busy and I haven’t been able to update anything here. Long story short, in July, my quartet Ansonia Quartet had a big performance at MoMA this past Sunday and received our first concert review on National Sawdust Log, I had an interview article with Maestro David Robertson published in Japanese on Nikkei for my regular column, and recorded several game/anime soundtracks in Boston.
And I am going to Connecticut to play some Bach at the inaugural Five Senses Festival this weekend! Super excited to perform and see other artists around. The ticket is free so if you live close, please check it out 🙂 https://www.fivesensesfestival.com/
